The Beginning of a Rebrand

A big change is coming to the shop.

In a few days, I will share with you my new business name. It feels big and scary to move from a place that feels comfortable and safe. I chose the name 'Thrifty Whitney' on a whim, when I opened a brand new Instagram account to sell thrifted goods and plucked that name out of the air.

It has served me so well over the past 4 years. I have met people in person who recognize my face and know my name. Those connections are so precious to me. They have helped build a strong business built on relationships and trust.

But - earlier this year, I started having hard conversations with close friends who know me, my business, and where I want to go. A casual comment on an Instagram post pointed out that most people expect me to be slinging thrifted goods and talking about thrifting.

And they weren't wrong. That IS where I started. But this business has grown into something much bigger than that.

I shared this with two dear business friends, and Sarah spoke the words I needed to hear:

"Thrifty Whitney got you where you needed to be today. But it won't cut it for moving forward in the future."

And that was the wake-up call my heart and head needed. It tapped into thoughts I'd been having for over a year - that my business was so much more than my name, and way more than thrifting.

So I did what I try to always do when faced with decisions, big or small: I prayed. I asked God to show me what the next step should be. And he immediately brought a name to mind - someone I knew and trusted could bring my vision to life.

The process has required way more soul-searching and vision refinement than I ever expected.

But the result is a name and brand I am so proud to own. Because I truly believe it will allow me to serve you, my friend and customer, in better, more exciting ways. It will open the door to create a shop that will endure for years to come and better reflect my dream of running a family-owned business.

Sounds exciting, right?

So here is a peek at part of my new logo. And you'll get the full reveal on Tuesday morning, along with a new podcast interview giving you the entire back story.

I can't wait to share it with you.
