Solid Copper Gooseneck Kettle with Scroll Handle, c1850
Solid Copper Gooseneck Kettle with Scroll Handle, c1850
Couldn't load pickup availability
Solid copper kettle with handcrafted details and warm patina. Kettle features a gooseneck spout with bird beak opening and a fixed scrolled solid brass handle. Removable lid with brass acorn finial. Brazed clamp seams typical of early to mid 19th century copper pieces.
Kettles such as these were used over open fires to heat water, as evidenced to the wear on the underside of the handle and slightly scorched bottom. The kettle has been polished and cleaned; scattered black scorch marks remain over the surface, adding character.
The knob and interior has evidence of repairs using lead. Tin lining remains. Recommended for non-food use only.
