Antique Brown and Cheddar Around the Corner Quilt, c1870

Available is an antique quilt with a gorgeous array of prints and fabrics. This piece offers a textile enthusiast a lot to enjoy and study.

MATERIALS

The quilt is in the pattern 'Around the Corner', with rotated squares and triangles. The corners are in orange cheddar, except for one block which has blue and white gingham. Calico prints and pinks used throughout. Set in dark cool brown wavy printed fabric. No border. Backing is muslin, very lightweight thin cotton batting present, and it is bound from back to front. Hand quilted in white thread with double rod grids.

CONDITION

Very good condition for its age. There are several areas with brown discoloration, possibly from dye run. The fabrics feel crisp, as if never washed. Overall fabric integrity is intact. I have not washed this quilt and do not recommend wetting it. See photos.
