Antique Red and Blue Basket Quilt | Cutter Stacking Quilt

A well worn vintage quilt in beautiful shades of red, white and blue, this would be a great display piece in a country farmhouse inspired home, or repurposed for sewing projects.

MATERIALS

The quilt is made in a basket pattern, in a colorway of red, white and blue. There is also a surprise block with overdyed green and yellow print fabric, as well as black and white mourning prints. It has lightweight cotton batting. It is framed in the sashes with claret red fabric and bound back to front. Backing is homespun blue and white gingham fabric. Hand quilted and hand pieced.

CONDITION

Fair vintage condition. It has multiple patches with fabric loss and exposed batting, as well as a hole near one edge. Mild shredding on the edge. These flaws can easily be hid by strategic folding if used for display, or enjoyed as part of the quilt's inherent age and history. It has been gently hand washed and air dried.

AGE

Exact age unknown. Likely made circa 1910s, based on fabrics and techniques used.

SIZE

Measures 77" x 70" - modern twin, or can be layered on a larger comforter if used on a larger bed. Note it was photographed on a king size bed.
