Available is an unusual antique Australian food jar. Raised lettering reads "Bengal Chutney Company, The Palms, Brisbane" surrounding a picture of palm trees.
According to the Queensland Museum, the Bengal Chutney Company was started in the early 1900s by Arthur and James MacDonald. "The Palms" was the name of their house first used to produce and package the chutney. The company continued through the 1920s.
The jar has thick aqua glass with strong lettering and colors. A delightful piece of Australian culinary history.
