This exceptional late 20th-century British equestrian oil painting is attributed to the noted English artist Glynis Mills. Found in England, the piece beautifully showcases a chestnut horse grazing in a lush pasture, painted with lively, expressive brushwork.
The composition features a traditional white fence line against a dense backdrop of trees and a dramatic, overcast English sky. Although unsigned, the artwork perfectly captures the signature atmospheric depth and anatomical mastery characteristic of Mills’ equestrian portraits. It comes custom framed in a sophisticated gilt wood frame that complements the rich, warm undertones of the artwork.
This piece was purchased from part of her collection in England. Unsigned; style consistent with her body of work.

About the Artist
Glynis Mills HSEA (1954–2026) was an esteemed and deeply dedicated figure within contemporary British equine art. Based in North Yorkshire, she joined the prestigious Society of Equestrian Artists (SEA) in 1981, eventually serving as its Chair and receiving its highest accolade, the Cuneo Medal, for the best full body of work.
An accomplished equestrian who actively trained and judged dressage at an advanced level, Mills’ innate understanding of equine biomechanics gave her artwork an exceptional level of anatomical truth. Her distinctive style—frequently focusing on the true form of working and grazing horses against heavy, textured English skies—carries an atmospheric brilliance highly sought after by collectors of fine sporting art.
