A stunning pair of 19th-century Victorian green majolica earthenware plates produced by Edge, Malkin & Co. at the Newport Pottery in Burslem, Staffordshire, England. This pair features an intricate, relief-moulded central motif of overlapping grape leaves and strawberries, framed perfectly by a classic, crisp interwoven basketweave border.
The rich, translucent emerald green lead glaze pools beautifully within the veins and woven textures, showcasing the excellent depth and artistry characteristic of high-quality period majolica. Both plates bear the impressed "Edge, Malkin & Co." maker's mark on the reverse. A beautiful addition to an antique plate wall, a dresser display, or a curated majolica collection.
Condition:
Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Bright, glassy glaze. Minimal, age-appropriate surface wear and light glaze crazing as is standard for earthenware of this vintage.
