Vintage Blue and White Basket Quilt, c1930

A soft and cuddly quilt, ready for every day use and cuddling in a classic blue and white colorway.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in a pieced basket pattern with solid blue cotton in a solid body and triangles making up the handle, set in white cotton fabrics. Single line parallel quilting in alternate blocks, with double line quilting over the blocks, with white thread.

Light to medium weight cotton batting. Binding in matching blue fabric. Backing is solid white cotton.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition. There are several brown marks that did not come out with washing and scattered storage stains on back. Surface wear on front and binding, with an open tear to the backing near the top edge. Otherwise clean and intact. It has been carefully hand washed and air dried.

AGE

Exact date unknown. Based on fabric and technique, estimated date made is circa 1930. It came from a private quilt collection in Kansas City, MO.

Measures 81" x 63".
