Vintage Twin Sisters Variation Purple and Yellow Quilt, c1930

A bright and cheerful color scheme, set in a delightful variation on the Twin Sisters pattern.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in the Twin Sisters pattern, with 2 different prints used in the blocks (the original used the same fabric in all 4 pieces). The small printed yellow grid and purple floral fabrics are set in white fabric, which also shows tiny pinwheels at the intersection of blocks.

Binding is matching yellow fabric. Sashing is two rows of purple and yellow fabrics. Backing is white cotton. Lightweight cotton batting. Hand quilted in white thread.

CONDITION

Excellent vintage condition. Scattered binding wear. See photos. Otherwise clean and intact. It has been carefully hand washed and air dried.

AGE

Exact date unknown. Based on fabric and technique, estimated date made is circa 1930. It came from a private quilt collection in Kansas City, MO.

Measures 74" x 73".
